Statics is the branch of mechanics that deals
with the bodies that are acted on by balanced
forces. A force system acting on a body is said
to be balanced if it has no tendency to change
the state of rest or motion of the body in any
way.
If a body is in
equilibrium, the force system
acting on it must be balanced.

استاتیک شاخه ای از مکانیک است که به اجسامی که توسط نیروهای متعادل بر روی آنها اثر می گذارد، سر و کار دارد. سیستم نیرویی که بر روی جسمی اثر می‌گذارد، اگر تمایلی به تغییر حالت استراحت یا حرکت جسم به هیچ وجه
نداشته باشد، متعادل است.
اگر جسمی در
تعادل باشد، سیستم نیرویی که بر آن وارد می شود باید متعادل باشد.
